Are you planning a trip to Salt Lake City this December? December can be a magical month, especially when there’s enough snow to make it really feel like Christmas is drawing near. While technically not in Salt Lake City, the Festival of Trees is an event that is well worth the short trip south into Sandy. Held at the Southtown Expo Center, the Festival of Trees is an annual event that is all about helping children. Businesses, families, and individuals decorate over 700 themed trees, along with other groups, which are then auctioned off with the proceeds going to Primary Children’s Hospital. For littles, the Festival of Trees offers face painting, a chance to see Santa, a bubble machine, and a gingerbread village. There are also plenty of boutiques and entertainment, so shop around and enjoy!

The Grand America Hotel is the only 5-star hotel in Utah, and it hosts some amazing Christmas experiences. It hosts a Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus in the Oak Room, complete with a photo op. Then there’s Santa’s Grand Afternoon Tea in the lobby. You could also check out the Victorian Afternoon Tea, Christmas Eve Breakfast and Lunch Buffet, Christmas Eve Prix Fixe Dinner, Holiday Sunday Brunches, and the Christmas Day Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. The food is amazing and the setting is spectacular.

Need a place to do your Christmas shopping? Look no further than the City Creek Center. Kids can take pictures with Santa starting in late November and up until just before Christmas. Artfully arranged window displays, twinkling lights, and fantastic decorations make this mall a must for your to-visit list this holiday season. Be sure to see the fountain shows. They’re programmed to match up with Christmas music. For an extra special treat, see them after dark when fire elements are added to the mix!
