When you want a great lunch made from delicious, healthy food, The Nauvoo is a great place to go. A nutritious, delicious meal isn’t the only advantage to eating at The Nauvoo though. Located near the heart of Salt Lake City, it’s also conveniently located near some pretty great things to do, some of which are perfect for enjoying post-lunch.
Relax at the Brigham Young Historic Park
If you need a place where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just relax for a bit, the Brigham Young Historic Park is the perfect place to spend a quiet post-lunch afternoon. It’s located directly east of Temple Square, across from the Church Office Building. This park features an open lawn, a rebuilt portion of a cobblestone wall that marked Brigham Young’s property, and a stage backed by a water wheel that is powered by City Creek’s flow. The sound of running water and beautiful landscaping make this a perfect place to rest, and the fenced perimeter and gated entrance make it easier to block out the surrounding city.
Explore the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art
Art lovers will love checking out the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art. You can visit the UMOCA again and again and still find something new, thanks to exhibitions that change frequently and events that are held periodically. Check out the gallery for a mind-opening experience that could see you looking at the world around you a little differently when you leave. It’s open Wednesdays-Saturdays from 11:00am-6:00pm, with hours extending to 9:00 pm on Fridays. It’s only about a block away from The Nauvoo, making it a short 7-10 minute walk.
Stroll around Temple Square
When it comes to experiencing the best of Utah’s culture and personality, there’s nothing quite like Temple Square. This space is devoted to historic sites, family-friendly activities, and engaging exhibits that center around The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Enjoy the grounds during any season. The gardens are beautiful during the warmer months, but make sure you come back sometime in the evening between the day after Thanksgiving and January 1st to see the Christmas light displays–a state favorite.
